Sok Kwu Wan is home to one of Hong Kong's last living fish farming communities. For generations, fisherfolk here have raised abalone, grouper, and other marine species using techniques passed down through families — a form of intangible cultural heritage that is increasingly rare.
索罟灣是香港最後一片活態魚排養殖社區。世代漁民在此養殖鮑魚、龍躉等海洋生物,傳承著日益珍稀的非物質文化遺產。
Our partner F.I.S.H. (鬺藍水產) is a team of ocean science graduates who integrate aquaculture monitoring with traditional fisherfolk knowledge — creating a model for the future of responsible seafood production in Hong Kong.

Through our Fisherfolk Oral History Workshop, students and visitors can sit with veteran fisherfolk, listen to their stories, and help document a living heritage before it fades.

Shell reefs — structures built from recycled oyster shells and sustainable materials — are critical marine habitats. They provide shelter for juvenile fish, filter water, and support biodiversity. Yet decades of coastal development have destroyed much of Hong Kong's natural reef habitat.
貝殼礁是重要的海洋棲息地,為幼魚提供庇護、過濾水質、支持生物多樣性。然而數十年的海岸開發已摧毀了香港大部分天然礁石棲息地。
In our Build a Shell Reef workshop, participants use recycled materials to construct reef structures that are then deployed into Sok Kwu Wan's waters — making a direct, measurable contribution to habitat restoration.

Lamma's estuary is one of Hong Kong's most biodiverse coastal habitats — home to mudskippers, fiddler crabs, herons, and five species of seagrass. These ecosystems are not just beautiful; they are critical carbon sinks.

Seagrass beds absorb carbon up to 35 times faster than tropical rainforests per unit area — making seagrass restoration one of the most powerful climate actions available.

Hong Kong is home to five species of seagrass, found in sheltered bays and estuaries across the territory. Sok Kwu Wan's coastal waters support several of these species, making it a critical site for seagrass conservation and research.
